and China was learning from its so-called “big brother”. Present times show what changes have happened in both nations. In this section, two contributions could help the reader to sharpen his or her focus when looking at Russian or Chinese societies. The first, by Professor Liu Wenfei of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delineates the different "currents" that criss-cross each other in contemporary Russian society. Beyond Russian borders, the second, by Professor Liu Gangfang of the School of Law at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), Beijing, presents in detail one of the new Chinese laws—the Real Right Law—that is destined to accompany and strengthen the initiated economic reforms. In their contrastive differences, both articles might help assess how similarly or not both societies walk along their national paths.
