The first is the case of Iraq: whatever position one has regarding the war in Iraq, begun on March 20th 2003 or its results and their present developments, what solution could be worked out by Iraqis to rebuild national peace? Richard J. Reagan, from Fordham University, New York, presents some suggestions. The second case rekindles past deep tensions in the Balkans that were degenerated in the Kosovo Conflict (1996-1999), its atrocities and inter-ethnic violence (2004-2006). What can be the consequences, not only in Serbia but also around the world, of its recent declaration of independence (February 17th 2008)? Sir Ivor Roberts, current President of Trinity College, Oxford, writes an article based on his experience in the region.
