  the Beijing Olympic Games will by contrast remain a new point of departure on the World stage despite its new challenges. In this section, Shi Yinhong, Professor of International Relations at the People’s University of China, Beijing, presents some reflections on what lies ahead for China to engage itself on this World stage. A second article follows that would remind the reader of a lingering crisis “behind the world stage”, albeit said as a metaphor: the unsettled crisis in Burma, recently still recalled to the world attention by some news despatches on so many Burmese “internally displaced persons” that risk falling into the world’s oblivion.
