It is a matter of fact that the world economy is basically capitalistic (even if some states want it to keep some ‘national characteristics’). Yet, anywhere capitalism has been implemented first to develop industrial societies, it leaves behind the agrarian side of the country with a lesser need of capital. For a nation the size of China, the many aspects of the issue take immense proportions. In this section, Huang Yan, assistant professor at the Huanan Normal University, presents challenges and suggests some solutions to prevent further erosion of the rights of peasants in the rural development of China.
