Alvaro de Marichalar reached Shangchuan Island during his expedition in homage to his ancestor St. Francis Xavier, on the 500th anniversary of Xavier's birth.
"The Xavier 2006 Expedition" is the first maritime journey between China and Japan onboard of a water-scooter.

Launch of a commemorative stamp on the 500th anniversary of Francis Xavier's birth. The stamp will be designed by the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda Timbre, the work being based on graphic documentation about Francis Xavier and his home castle provided by the Navarre Government.
